Heaven in a Little Foil Packet

Forgot to mention that last run I tested out the new GU flavor PEANUT BUTTER. Holy hell I've died and gone to GU heaven. Just when I thought I had landed my ultimate favorite flavor (Vanilla Gingerbread) along came peanut butter...game over.

It isn't exactly like peanut butter from the jar, but hey that would defeat the purpose right? Otherwise I would just pack little squeeze bottles of thinned out peanut butter. Peanut butter GU is a touch sweeter and much easier to swallow than Skippy. What really sank my battleship was this little foil packet was reminiscent of a super secret family recipe handed down through the generations for a delicious peanut-y ice cream topping. Basically it's peanut butter mixed with pure maple syrup, heated and stirred obsessively until runny. The tricky part is getting the perfect balance of peanut and maple flavors. Too much of one side and it ruins it.

There has been chatter in the crowd of mixing other fruity GU packets with the peanut butter to form a "trail pb&j". Another suggestion was mixing chocolate outrage (now currently tied in my second place with the gingerbread flavor) with the peanut butter....yummmmm. Gels like this make me want to strap on my pack and run just to eat!

If you know me at all, I have a serious obsession with all things peanut butter, chocolate, and bacon. Now if only I could talk GU Energy lab to make me a bacon GU. Think there would be any takers?

A friend posted this funny post...I just had to pass it on- Happy New Year!
